Specifications

Rug ID CCD1297722
Knot density approx 160 000 knots per m²

You can easily calculate the knot density yourself by counting the number of knots 1 cm down and 1 cm across, and then multiplying these numbers together. Then multiply the total by 10,000 to give the number of knots per m².

Some carpet sellers exaggerate the knot density, so to be sure that you are comparing like for like when it comes to price, it is worth checking the knot density yourself. Most of CarpetVista’s carpets have a photograph of the reverse with a ruler, making it easy to examine the knot quality and count the exact knot density before choosing your carpet.

Pile Wool
Wool is a natural textile fibre and one of the most sought after materials for rug making. Wool rugs are highly durable and perfectly capable of resisting wear and tear of every day use. Wool has a naturally dirt-repelling effect and is easy to keep clean. It is also flame resistant and characteristically retains it’s shape so that the pile of the rug always rises.
Manufacturing Hand knotted
Elaborate weaving technique with specialized artisans tying knots to form rows of pile either by cutting each individual knot or an entire row of knots. Hand-knotting takes time and also allows for intricate patterns.
Also known as Täbriz, Tabris, Täbris, Tebriz, Tebris
Size 280x390
This carpet is hand knotted/woven; therefore, difference in shape, thickness, pattern and sizes can occur. This applies particularly to nomadic and village carpets.

Tabriz Antique Rug carpet from Persia / Iran.

Antique Tabriz rugs originate from the ancient city of Tabriz in Northwestern Iran, a
region steeped in history and recognized as one of the world's foremost carpet-weaving
centers. With roots tracing back centuries, Tabriz has established itself as a hub of

exquisite craftsmanship, producing rugs that reflect the rich cultural and artistic
traditions of Persia.
These rugs are renowned for their meticulous artistry and intricate designs. The typical
Tabriz rug often showcases a central medallion surrounded by elaborate floral and
geometric patterns that draw upon centuries of artistic heritage. The designs are a
harmonious blend of motifs, including delicate flowers, flowing vines, and geometric
shapes, all rendered with a level of detail that speaks to the weaver’s skill.
The color palette of Tabriz rugs is notably diverse, with a spectrum ranging from deep
jewel tones to soft pastels. This variety allows for endless creative expression, as
artisans use rich shades to bring life and vibrancy to their compositions. Unlike some
other Persian rugs, Tabriz pieces do not adhere to a strict traditional color scheme,
embracing an eclectic mix that showcases the versatility and imagination of their
creators.
Hand-knotted with precision, antique Tabriz rugs are typically crafted from high-quality
wool or silk. The luxurious materials not only enhance their visual appeal but also
contribute to their durability, ensuring that these pieces can withstand the passage of
time while retaining their beauty. The intricate weaving techniques, passed down
through generations, reflect the commitment to quality and craftsmanship that has
defined Tabriz rugs for centuries.
Historically, Tabriz has faced numerous challenges, including invasions and natural
disasters, yet its tradition of weaving has endured. The city served as the capital of the
Safavid dynasty, and its rugs have long been celebrated for their adherence to classical
Persian designs. In the late 19th century, influential master weavers revitalized the
craft, leading to a resurgence in the production and export of Tabriz rugs to Western
markets. This period marked a significant turning point, as the intricate artistry and
varied designs began to gain international recognition.
One of the distinguishing features of antique Tabriz rugs is their exceptional weave
quality. They often exhibit a remarkable consistency in craftsmanship, showcasing a
variety of patterns and designs that cater to different aesthetic preferences. Whether
adorned with grand medallions or all-over patterns, Tabriz rugs display a sophisticated
balance of color and form.
The artistry of Tabriz rugs goes beyond mere decoration; they embody the cultural
narrative of the region, reflecting the influences of history, art, and tradition. Rug
enthusiasts and collectors alike are drawn to their beauty and craftsmanship,
recognizing Tabriz rugs as some of the finest examples of Persian weaving. Each piece
is not just a carpet but a testament to the enduring legacy of a city that has remained
synonymous with quality and artistry in the world of textiles.
In summary, antique Tabriz rugs are a celebration of Persian heritage, weaving together
intricate designs, vibrant colors, and unparalleled craftsmanship. They serve as both
functional art and historical artifacts, offering a glimpse into the rich tapestry of cultural
expression that has flourished in Tabriz for generations.

Gorgeous rug

I ordered a rug from rug vista about a year ago for my living room. It arrived promptly, was well packaged and I was kept informed. I’m writing because I think it’s useful to get feedback about a product further down the line- how it wears etc. Mine looks like new despite its constant use, children and the dog! I was also looking again to order some rugs for friends, two of whom liked my rug so much, they want me to forward the details, which I’ve done. I was really shocked to see that someone had had a negative experience with Rugvista. I have no axe to grind or any connection with the company other than being a highly satisfied customer. I would buy from them again for certain.
