Ralph Burkhardt was born in Stuttgart, in the south of Germany, in 1980. He studied visual communication in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Together with a partner he runs his own design studio, Burkhardthauke responsible for all kinds of cultural and industrial clients. This carpet design is called »Stepping stones« It shows a playful arrangement of stepping stones. You can jump from one to another. I really like the colors of this carpet. They harmonise perfectly in accordance to each other. Dap a stone yourself.

Handtufted carpets are made by hand using high quality raw materials, but rather than having knots that need to be tied, a special ”tufting gun” is used to push loops of yarn through a scrim (pre-woven backing). The last stage in the production is trimming the pile to the desired length, thereby exposing the thread ends for a softer pile.
This technique allows for a quick and effective process and gives the weaver more freedom and range to create detailed patterns and shapes otherwise restricted in handknotted carpets. The end result is a long lasting high quality carpet at an affordable price.

Wool is a natural textile fibre and one of the most sought after materials for rug making. Wool rugs are highly durable and perfectly capable of resisting wear and tear of every day use. Wool has a naturally dirt-repelling effect and is easy to keep clean. It is also flame resistant and characteristically retains it’s shape so that the pile of the rug always rises.

THANKS VERY GOOD
I just had this carpet delivered to me. It is comfortable and of good quality. I am however a bit disappointed by its look, as the background grey colour seemed to be a bit lighter on the picture, while the coloured spots looked more seamlessly integrated with the rest (the line separating the spots from the background is rather wide, deep and obvious). On the whole though I am quite satisfied, as the children will no doubt be playing on this carpet for years to come.
