The city of Nahavand, in the Hamadan province of western Iran, is known for producing a unique blend of colours and soft and shiny wool. The rugs mostly depicts nomadic, floral and geometric patterns with a central medallion. The colours are often deep red or dark blue, but other vibrant colours are also used. Nahavand rugs are usually only produced in smaller sizes, normally around 230x160 cm. The rugs are knotted on simple horizontal looms on the ground, making it difficult to produce bigger rugs. One of the features with the Persian rugs and which also makes them so unique, is that every town, village and area has their own way and tradition of making rugs. Rugs are not produced or sold on a demand basis, but on what the weaver likes. Our collection of Nahavand Old is a rare chance of buying some truly unique rugs in the best quality. All of our Nahavand Old rugs are at least 30 years old, with a thick and shiny pile making these old rugs extraordinary beautiful.
The colors in the rug will be perceived differently depending on the angle you view it from.
