Berber Moroccan - Mid Atlas Vintage carpet from Morocco.
Moroccan Berber rugs are hand-woven crafts from nomadic tribes in the Atlas Mountains. The carpets are known for their geometric patterns in clear colours and that are hand-woven without a template. The weaver interprets events from his life in the rugs, which are usually symbols of happiness, love and nature. The Berber tribes are still in the mountains today and the weaving is inherited from mother to daughter. The material is the finest sheep wool that, with the help of plants and berries, gets its strong colours. The natural colors white, brown and black are wool that comes directly from the sheep found in the mountain areas. The Moroccan rugs that dominates are Beni Ourain as well as the colorful Azilal and Boucherouite.

Wool is a natural textile fibre and one of the most sought after materials for rug making. Wool rugs are highly durable and perfectly capable of resisting wear and tear of every day use. Wool has a naturally dirt-repelling effect and is easy to keep clean. It is also flame resistant and characteristically retains it’s shape so that the pile of the rug always rises.

Beautiful quality and lovely colours
The website was easy to use. I needed a specific small size for where the rug has to go in my bedroom and was spoilt for choice. The carpet that I finally chose was exactly what I wanted and the quality and finish is absolutely gorgeous. It looks even better in real life and I have a certificate of authentication for it.
